Baba.
Vanity Fair.
"If you like things easy, this industry
is not for you" λέει.
J'adore, J'adore, J'adore!
Gathered in the mezzanine of the New Hotel, a hotel in the center of Athens, we were drinking coffee and we were waiting an important person of fashion industry. While we were talking among each other, the door opened and Catherine Baba appeared. Wearing a stretch bodysuit in zebra pattern, a vintage kimono with bold colors and flower patterns, bracelets and a turban- accessories that she never takes out of her, she enters the room saying "darling" while she was smiling.
The discussion began; She started talking about her life, were she grew up, how she was with her family, what were the impulses that she received in order to be a stylist. Her words seduces every listener. Impetuous like a torrent, with stories that takes you to other worlds and make you want to be part of them.
Among other things, she talked about insomnia, which is part of her life since she was a kid.
While she was still in Sydney, she used to stay awake in the night and watching black and white movies and since she couldn't hear the dialogs, she was turning all her attention to the costumes. Her first dream was to become a fashion designer, due to the the impulses that she had from her mother, who was sewing clothes.
With a resume that will be envied by most, she has collaborated with major fashion houses such as Chanel, Givenchy and Balmain, as well as many renowned magazines such as Vogue Japan, Dazed and Confused and Vanity Fair.
Her advice to those who want to work in the sector of fashion was that is a hard and difficult sector and needs a lot of hard work and study in order to succeed. "If you like things easy, this industry is not for you" she said.
I feel really happy that I met this great woman. I'm closing this piece of writing with a word that represents her a lot...
J'adore, J'adore, J'adore!
P.s: HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'm wishing you all the best!
